LOF dd 08/11/2017
M/V “NEARCHOS”
On 08th November 2017, bulk carrier “NEARCHOS” (72,413 dwt, built 1998), laden with 70,000 mt of coal, en route to Zhanjiang port in China, had a collision with a dredger in South China Sea. The vessel suffered damages in the forepeak area that was flooded. Five Oceans Salvage, under LOF, mobilized tugs “TAIKOO” & “WHAMPOA” from their station in Hong Kong to assist the casualty and tow “NEARCHOS” to the discharging port in Zhanjiang. The casualty was safely redelivered alongside the discharge berth on 26th November 2017, on termination of the salvage services.

M/V “EVANGELIA L”
On 21st October 2017, bulk carrier “EVANGELIA L” (38,167 dwt, built 2015), laden with 36,381 mt of nickel ore, while en route from Guatemala to China, was immobilized due to main engine failure about 1,100 miles northwest of Hawai. Five Oceans Salvage, under LOF, mobilized tug “MANUOKEKAI” from Honolulu and towed the casualty to Hawai. In Hawai, salvors provided standby and ancillary services and the casualty was redelivered to her owners in Hawai on the 07th November 2017 on completion of repairs.

M/V “MAJORCA”
On 12th September 207, while en route from Nantong, China to Brisbane, Australia, bulk carrier “MAJORCA” (74,477 dwt, built 2005), in ballast condition, run aground on a coral reef off Papua New Guinea. Five Oceans Salvage signed a LOF with owners the same day with SCOPIC incorporated. Salvors engaged two local tugs through joint venture partners Swire Pacific Offshore and dispatched a salvage team from Greece to assist. The vessel was refloated on the 18th September 2017 and was redelivered to her owners on the 22nd September in Lae, Papua New Guinea.

M/V “TINA”
Motor vessel “TINA” (75,933 dwt, built 2000), laden with 63,250 mt of soyabeans, suffered an engine breakdown off South Africa on 10th September 2017. Five Oceans Salvage signed a LOF with owners on the same day and dispatched tug “PACIFIC DILIGENCE” from her station in Durban to assist. The towage proved challenging in adverse weather conditions and strong currents but the convoy safely reached Durban on the 20th September 2017 where the vessel was redelivered to her owners alongside a repair berth.

M/V “PTOLEMEOS”
On 19th July 2017, motor vessel “PTOLEMEOS” (45,712 dwt, built 1995), laden with 42,600 mt of cement clinker, bound from UAE to Bangladesh, was immobilized off Sri Lanka. Five Oceans Salvage signed a LOF same day and dispatched tug “CAPRICORN” from Colombo and a salvage team of three from Greece to assist. The salvage team joined the tug along her course and on 25th July they reached the casualty and commenced towing her to Bangladesh. In Chittagong anchorage, salvors remained in attendance providing standby services including static towing around the clock in the challenging waters and sea conditions of Chittagong anchorage. Tugs “RESOLVE MONARCH” and “PACIFIC VALOUR” were also engaged in the operation. The casualty was successfully repaired and redelivered to her owners in Chittagong anchorage on 22nd August 2017.

M/V “IRIS II”
On 06th July 2017, bulk carrier “IRIS II” (75,798 dwt, built 2004), laden with 69,000 mt of soyabeans, was immobilized while en route from Brazil to Pakistan due to engine failure. Five Oceans Salvage, under LOF, swiftly mobilized their station keeping tug “IONIAN SEA FOS” from her salvage station in Port Louis and towed the casualty back to Mauritius. In Port Louis, salvors provided standby and ancillary services while the vessel was being repaired. The casualty was redelivered to her owners in Port Louis on the 25th July 2017 on completion of repairs.
